Our Purpose The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century unites over 11,000 members who share a passion for American history and a commitment to preserving it. With heraldry at its core, the Society holds one of the largest collections of Coats of Arms in the country and uniquely requires members to prove ancestry in America before 1701. Organization Structure The organization comprises 45 State Societies in the U.S. and one in Canada, each divided into chapters. It is led by the President General, elected for a two-year term, who heads the National Executive Board and oversees the Board of Management, including national officers, honorary positions, state presidents, and committee chairmen. View Officers Societies & Chapters The governance structure of the state societies and chapters mirrors that of the national organization, with the exception of the curator role and the absence of three vice presidents at the state and chapter levels.
